How important is a domain name to affiliate marketing?
Hi there, how important is a domain name to affiliate marketing? What are your opinions?
Gee! no one wants to give their opinion?
Better later than never, here goes.
Domain names are quite important for affiliate products. The domain name should be related to the affiliate products you are selling. They do not have to be the name of the product but related. For example if you are selling skiing products a name like
www.skiing-tips.com. But it does not always have to be the main domain name but it is preferable. it could be
www.skiing-tips.fred.co.nz
Using subdomains is a good way of directing to particular products though. The main domain name should be a nonentity in this case and as small as possible.
The domain name or subdomain should be in context with your main keyword for you website or blogs.
(I am a blogman)
I have a domain www.wilf.biz and I put all my subdomains ahead of that.
My name is Wilf of course.
"skiing-tips" being a subdomain in this case.
It is important to have a hosting provider who allows heaps of subdomains.

For another example what I choose for a domain and subdomain name. one is fairly specific and one is general which allows lots of related products to be offered under it.
Cheers
Wilf.

I agree
Sub domains are a power full way to promote a few product ranges without having to register new domains.
As per below i use them and will be adding some more.
Also from one control panel - Cpanel - you can do all your admin tasks etc
Lucky for me mu hosting company allow unlimited sub domains!
Cheers
